Specialty Labs and Tests Offered by Dr. Marcantel

Specialty labs can help pinpoint the root causes of many health problems. Here are some of the most common tests we offer:

Female/Male Hormone Salivary Testing As we age, our hormone levels decrease. This decrease or imbalance can cause moodiness, irritability, depression, anxiety, insomnia, low libido, hot flashes, weight gain, and memory loss. A simple salivary collection test kit is sent home with the patient to perform the test in the privacy and convenience of his/her home. Adrenal Testing The natural decline in adrenal hormones leads to chronic fatigue, Fibromyalgia, inability to focus, decreased metabolism and overall lack of motivation. The adrenal glands are responsible for helping us to handle stress in our lives. The adrenal output of Cortisol can be measured by collection of saliva.

Complete thyroid test panel  The diagnosis for Hashimoto’s disease is often missed in medicine or it’s treated incorrectly. The reason for this is because the patient may have a normal thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) test, they can be in the normal range for free T3 and free T4, and normal range for T3 and T4. At that point their doctor may tend to rule out thyroiditis because of the blood tests. However, it’s important to also check the TPO antibodies (thyroid peroxidase antibodies) because they are an excellent indicator of Hashimoto’s. Sometimes the TPO antibodies are extremely high even though the other tests seem to be in the normal ranges.

Food Sensitivity Testing This test has proven accurate in identifying the relevant foods and substances associated with many types of chronic inflammatory and metabolic disorders. The common foods you are eating may be causing a reaction from your body which produces symptoms of bloating, gas, headaches, insomnia, respiratory problems or a skin rash. A simple blood test can determine those foods your body may be sensitive to. For more information, read Dr. Marcantel’s article “Are Foods Making You Sick?”

Heavy metal testing  Depending upon what metals we’re testing for, this could be a urine test or a blood test. This test can be very useful for determining a specific protocol for a detoxification program.
